Hayfin interns Q&A: Pranathi Aprascheru
Department area: Finance
What made you apply for a Hayfin internship?
It was an opportunity that looked exciting and as Hayfin is an alternative asset management company, I was interested in how the industry works.
What is your typical day to day?
Typically, the day starts with checking emails for any updates or new tasks, followed by reaching out to the teams to offer assistance where needed. I was sat between the Fund Accounting and Corporate Accounting team, which ensured there was always a variety of tasks to work on. Each day included at least one session with a team member, often an introduction to their role and career journey. These were incredibly insightful and provided a deeper understanding of how the various functions at Hayfin work together. During my internship, I worked on several projects, including a cash flow project where I was projecting expenses for the upcoming years. In addition to larger projects, I supported the team with day-to-day tasks, providing help wherever it was needed.
Biggest take-away from internship experience?
My biggest takeaway from this experience would be a deeper comprehension of the Private Credit industry and how the Finance team plays an important role in the business. Professionally, I have grown as I now know how a corporate team works and how to navigate through a corporate environment.
Working on tasks that had a real impact on the team’s goals was extremely enjoyable, and the team really enhanced the internship experience by making me feel so included.
